With my work, I strive to bring strong creative, intuitive, and emotional sensibilities to collaborative projects. I have a sense for bringing out complex emotions and moods through music, and for integrating with the fabric of picture and story. I care deeply about the projects I work on and work hard to push boundaries with the intent of making things with real artistic utility and entertainment value in today’s world.
I grew up in college town Ann Arbor, Michigan. My musical roots stem from the jazz/soul influence of Detroit, and the folk/indie influence of Ann Arbor. I also spent a year in Germany as a child with family where my music background grew. Today, I’m based in my Brooklyn studio. I have a master’s degree in composition with an emphasis on music for multimedia from NYU.
In the past few years, I’ve scored numerous short films, feature films, and stretched myself cross-disciplinarily— connecting with audiences around the world (and out of it, via Blue Origins’s New Shepherd second human launch on Oct. 13th, 2021). I’ve just finished up soon-to-be-distributed feature documentary Sh*t Saves The World directed by Troy Hale, and am now working on the feature film The Lovers with 640 Films. I’ve also recently written songs/stories based on scientific research/programs meant to inspire through educational and engaging means, which are then animated. One was made during an arts internship for NASA’s Psyche Mission, and other grants and commissions for University of Tromsø arctic whale research, #SciCommMake Climate Solutions, and University of Michigan cube-satellite technology. Another project finishing up is with researcher Dr. Matthew Sachs out of Columbia University neuroscience where I’m contributing music that will be listened to by study participants in an fMRI machine. Their brains will be scanned while listening to our pieces to better understand the neuro-correlates of music and emotion. I have interned with Q Department, writing demos for the likes of Aston Martin, Revlon, Gillette, and have assisted film composer Christopher North (Two Trains Runnin’, Paint). Most recently, I have co-founded The Brew Canoe, a business focused on making custom music for Twitch streamers. In my downtime, you can probably catch me enjoying the outdoors, playing sports, or at bar trivia.
